Oxnard Accident Today – Two Dead, Several Injured in Eight-Vehicle Crash

Two people were killed and several others injured in a multi-vehicle crash in Oxnard on Friday afternoon, according to officials.

The collision, involving eight vehicles, was reported at the intersection of Victoria and Doris avenues shortly before 4 p.m., the Ventura County Fire Department said.

Two drivers died at the scene. Four other people were transported to a hospital for treatment. One of those injured was reported to have serious injuries, another suffered moderate injuries, and two others sustained minor injuries. Another person declined medical transportation.

Authorities identified the people involved only as adults and had not immediately released their names.

Oxnard Crash Investigation

Oxnard police Sgt. Michael Gens said the driver of a pickup truck who was taken to the hospital is suspected of being impaired by alcohol or drugs. However, officials emphasized that the cause of the crash remains under investigation.

According to Gens, witness statements indicated that the pickup was traveling northbound on Victoria Avenue at a high rate of speed before striking two other vehicles. Those vehicles were then pushed into additional vehicles, resulting in the eight-vehicle collision.

It was not immediately clear whether any arrests had been made in connection with the crash.

Victoria Avenue Closed After Crash

Victoria Avenue was expected to remain closed in both directions for at least two hours while emergency crews and investigators worked at the scene.

Authorities are continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding the deadly collision, including the events leading up to the initial impact.
